Harold James Boyd Keeso, born January 29th, 1925 to John and Mildred (Boyd) Keeso passed away peacefully at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Thursday, May 31st, 2018. A veteran, Harold had a full and long life. He was a member and former elder of Knox Presbyterian Church in Listowel. Both Kinsmen and K40 service clubs were organizations he was a part of locally. In addition, he was a longtime member of the Listowel Legion Branch 259. Throughout Harold’s life he was an accomplished and well known golfer here at the Listowel Golf Club, player and then manager of the Senior Intercounty Legionnaires ball team, competitive curler at the Listowel Curling Club and participant of many tournaments with Legion teams. Harold worked hard & took the responsibility of continuing on from brother Jack the decades-old tradition of logging & sawmilling.
He was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, the former Fern Fleet Thorndyke, brother Jack Keeso and sister Marjorie Poag. Harold and Fern were the dear parents of Wendy and Doug Sharpe of Burlington, Heather Keeso and Ron Gustafson of Toronto, Gail and Dave Bowen of Ipperwash Beach, Richard and Anne Keeso of Listowel and Elizabeth Keeso of Kitchener. Grandchildren include Nathan and Heather Bowen of Huntsville, Alabama, Cory and Matt Caton of Flowood, Mississippi, Alan and Jacqueline Keeso of Kitchener, Jared Keeso and fiancée Magali Brunelle of Montreal, Abigail and Christopher Hopkins of Toronto, Jamey Thompson and Andrew Hall of Burlington and Richard and Alison Thompson of Waterloo. Great-grandchildren are Taylor & Boyd Caton and Mac & Bailey Bowen.
A casual come and go celebration of Harold’s life will be held at the Listowel Community Family Funeral Home in Listowel on Saturday, June 9th, 2018 from 1 – 4 pm. with a brief service at 1.30 pm sharp. Reverends Don McCallum and Ralph Dwarika will officiate. Donations to Listowel Hospital, Knox Presbyterian Church & Listowel Legion appreciated.
