It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bruce McCutcheon of Listowel on Sunday, August 30th. He was in his 75th year. Bruce suffered from vascular dementia, a debilitating illness that was ably and passionately treated by the wonderful staff at the Listowel Memorial Hospital. Excellent care was also provided by the Huronlea Home for the Aged in Brussels in his final days.
Bruce will be missed by the love of his life for nearly 52 years, Jeannie McCutcheon (nee Osgathorpe). He was the most loving and proud father of Mary Lynne and Paul Ament, Lori and Orvis Fletcher and Jim and Jana McCutcheon. He was an adored “Papa” to Marlee and Brynn Ament, Kayla Fletcher and Camryn and Claire McCutcheon. He will be fondly remembered by his step-grandchildren: Sheilina and Mark Goodwin, Justin Fletcher and Alicja Kulik and Alyssa and Brad Vasey. Bruce was a special “Step-Great-Papa” to Maddex, Zoey, Maya, Sage and Arya. Also missing Bruce will be his sisters-in-law Frances Grosz, Jeannette McCutcheon and Marie McCutcheon, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Bruce was predeceased by his cherished parents, Jackson and Jean McCutcheon (nee Campbell); his in-laws Ronald Osgathorpe and Hazel and Wesley Cosens; his brothers Donald and Robert McCutcheon (in infancy), Allan McCutcheon and Murray McCutcheon; as well as nephew Seth McCutcheon and brother-in-law Bill Grosz.
For 38 years Bruce was a hardworking gentleman, and a friend to many working at Listowel Memorial Hospital. He spent his retirement years at Home Hardware in St. Jacobs, where he cultivated many more friendships. Cutch was an avid sports fan; he loved all things Boston. He enjoyed many fishing and hockey trips with family and friends, and he loved to camp, kayak, walk, practice yoga and spend time outdoors. Most of all, he loved spending time with Jeannie and their family and friends at their retreat near Conestoga Lake.
A private family funeral is planned for Bruce at Knox Presbyterian Church, Listowel on Thursday, September 3rd, 2020, with Reverend Don McCallum officiating. Burial will take place at the Molesworth Cemetery.
